el poder del branding...branding power

¿Por que nos decidimos a comprar unas marcas u otras?, ¿Por la fidelidad a una marca a un diseño?, ¿nos dejamos seducir por el packaging? Las grandes firmas invierten cantidades significativas para posicionar sus marcas y que nos decantemos a la hora de realizar una compra u otra, ¿El lujo y los productos con elevados precios son significativos de una mayor calidad?, ¿Puede deberse al status que proporciona ir vestido o llevar ciertas firmas?

Hay muchas y variadas respuestas a todas estas cuestiones y seguramente sean algunas de las preguntas que se hizo Peddy Mergui a la hora de realizar la exposición que esta en activo desde el 12 de abril al 15 de junio en el Museum Craft Design de San Francisco.

Esta exposición explora la linea entre el diseño y la ética. El fenómeno de "prestigio" y "de lujo" como una validación de los consumidores es un tema recurrente en el artista. ¿Qué es lo que el consumidor realmente comprar cuando él o ella paga mucho dinero por una "marca" de trigo / harina, o sal de mesa ?

Las obras de la exhibición toman prestado formas e imágenes del mundo de consumo diario. Exploran la conexión del embalaje de los productos y las necesidad creada por el diseñador para adquirir dichos productos.

Wheat is Wheat is Wheat es una visión humorística y provocativa en la cultura de consumo global que sólo puede hacernos cuestionar cual sera nuestra próxima compra.

A lo largo de su carrera, Peddy ha sido galardonado con multitud de premios por su trabajo, incluyendo ganar un concurso nacional de diseño en 1996 por la que recibió el reconocimiento nacional . Fue este mismo año en que Peddy estableció su propia firma y comenzó su viaje para convertirse en uno de los expertos de la marca líder de Israel para el establecimiento de marcas de éxito . Además de su trabajo en el sector empresarial de Israel, Peddy es a la vez profesor , ex Jefe del Departamento de Diseño y miembro senior del personal en el Instituto de Tecnología de Holón ( HIT) . Conferencias sobre branding, packaging y comunicación visual.

Why we decided to buy any brands or other?, for the loyalty to a brand or  to a design?, Are we seduced by the packaging? firms invest significant amounts to position their brands and decant us when making a purchase or other, does the luxury and high-priced products are significant for higher quality?, Can be due to the status that gives us dress or bring certain firms? 

There are many different answers to these questions and are probably some of the questions that was Peddy Mergui perform when created this exhibition active from 12 April to 15 June at the Museum of Craft Design at San Francisco.

This exhibition explores design and ethics.The phenomenon of “prestige” and “luxury” as a consumer validation is a reoccurring theme with the artist. What does the consumer actually purchase when he or she pays top dollar for a “BRAND” of wheat/flour, or table salt?

The works in the exhibition borrows shapes and images from the world of daily consumption. Explore the connection between product packaging and the idea created by the designer need to purchase those products.

Wheat is Wheat is Wheat is a humorous yet provocative commentary on global consumer culture that may just have us questioning our next purchase.

Throughout his career, Peddy has been awarded a multitude of honors for his work including winning a national design competition in 1996 for which he received national recognition. It was this same year that Peddy established his own firm and began his journey towards becoming one of Israel’s leading brand expert for establishing successful brands . In addition to his work in Israel’s business sector, Peddy is both a lecturer, former Head of the Design Department and a Senior Staff member at the Holon Institute of Technology (H.I.T.). Lecturing on branding, packaging, and visual communication.

Para esta exposición Mergui ha creado latas de pepinillos de Gucci, sal y pimienta de Hermes, salami de Louis Vuitton, harina de Prada, huevos de Versace, cafe de Cartier, mantequilla de Bulgari, comida para niños de Chanel, noddles de Burberry, etc

For this exhibition created by  Mergui use jars of pickles by Gucci, Hermes salt and peper, Louis Vuitton salami, flour Prada, Versace eggs, coffee by  Cartier, Bulgari butter, baby food by Chanel, Burberry noddles, etc.

¿Tu adquirirías alguno de estos productos? Seguramente que muchos de nosotros adquiríamos estos productos si estuviesen a la venta.

No, no me he vuelto loco, no estamos en Septiembre aun quedan días para que empecemos a añorar el verano, pero la estética colegial esta muy presente esta primavera, y todo gracias a Karl Lagerfeld y sus mochilas grafiteada  para Chanel.

Lo de mochilero puede llegar a cambiar la idea preconcebida que solemos tener al respecto, la prenda en si fue  presentada en sociedad el pasado mes de octubre en el desfile primavera verano, se ha puesto a la venta por unos días en Colette y solo apto para niveles adquisitivos muy altos ya que ha salido a la venta al módico precio de unos 2500€. Siguiendo la estela abierta por el kaiser de la moda muchas otras firmas se suman a incluir esta prenda entre sus complementos.

calendario de la moda.... fashion calendar

Este es el ultimo fin de semana de agosto, parece mentira lo rápido que ha pasado el verano, el próximo lunes nos metemos de lleno en Septiembre, y con ello muchos de nosotros volveremos a la rutina, trabajo, colegios, en fin obligaciones. En resumen entrar un poco en la monotonía diaria pensando de nuevo en la próximas vacaciones.

Con la vuelta a los colegios, las mil y una colecciones que nos avasallan desde los kioskos de prensa, el barco por piezas, minerales de la tierra, etc, etc.  En Septiembre algo bueno también tenia que suceder para todos los seguidores de moda. Se dan cita muchas de las pasarelas mundiales, por lo que hay mucho que ver y pocos días.

This is the last weekend of August, can not believe how quickly the summer has passed, next Monday we get fully in September, and with it many of us back to the routine, work, school, in order obligations. In short get a little daily monotony thinking back on the next holidays.

Empezamos con la New York Fashion week del 5 al 12, siendo un poco patrióticos me apunto el día 5 Desigual y el 8 Custo Barcelona, la colección de Lacoste para el día 7, Y3 al día siguiente domingo 8, lunes 9 Carolina Herrera y DKNY, martes 10 Margiela, y para cerrar Nueva York Polo Ralph Lauren el día 12.

Del 13 al 17 coinciden London Fashion week y la Madrid Fashion week. Aqui la oferta y variedad es muy amplia por lo que resulta difícil reducir el numero de desfiles. 

Lo mas destacado en Madrid. Arrancamos con Victorio y Lucchino, el sabado 10 AA de Amaya Arzuaga, el domingo Francis Montesinos y cerramos el lunes con Carlos Diez, aunque me quedo con todos y cada uno de los desfiles.

En Londres para empezar con un buen sabor de boca el domingo 15 con Paul Smith y Manolo Blanhik, el lunes 16 Tom Ford y cerramos con algo mas deportivo la colección de Stella McCartney para Adidas.

We started with the New York Fashion week from 5 to 12, being a little patriotic I sign on the 5th for Desigual  and 8th for  Custo Barcelon, a Lacoste collection on 7th, Y3 next day Sunday 8th, Monday 9th DKNY and Carolina Herrera Tuesday 10th  Margiela, and to close New York fashion weel Polo Ralph Lauren on the 12th.

From 13 to 17 coincide London Fashion week and the Madrid Fashion week. Here the supply and variety is very wide so it is difficult to reduce the number of shows.

nos vamos de viaje...let's go travel

Estoy en esos días que tan ansiosamente se esperan a lo largo de todo el año y que son las vacaciones, por lo que la actualización del blog y visitaros no serán todo lo habitual que me gustaría.

I'm in those days so eagerly await throughout the year and are on vacation, so updating the blog and visit you not be usual everything I would like.

Cuando planeo las vacaciones siempre me gusta comprar guías de las ciudades a las que voy a ir, siempre compro dos una muy practica y la que suelo llenar de post it con los sitios y lugares que me interesan, Y otra que colecciono, no se si las conocéis son las guías de viaje de Wallpaper editadas por Phaidon.

Son unas guías de poco tamaño, pero de muy buena calidad en cuanto a contenido y recomendaciones, cada ciudad esta representada por un color, la carta de colores es de Pantone, e interiormente están muy bien estructuradas con pestañas con lugares imprescindibles, hoteles, si vas a estar solo 24 horas en la ciudad, ocio, arquitectura, compras, etc.

Sino las conocéis os recomiendo que las busquéis y echéis un vistazo.

When I plan the vacation I always like buying guides for cities that I go, always buy two one of them it's very practical and I usually fill it with post-it  with sites and places that interest me, and another that I collect, not if the know are travel guides published by Phaidon Wallpaper.

Guides are a little size, but of very good quality in terms of content and recommendations, each city is represented by a color, the color chart is Pantone one, and inside are very well structured with tabbed essential places, hotels, if you'll be just 24 hours in the city, leisure, architecture, shopping and more.

If you don't know them I recommend that you seek and dig out.

Algunas firma de moda se han apuntado a esta moda de introducirnos en un mundo un poco mas elitista en nuevas ciudades en nuestros viajes. 

Por ejemplo Luis Vuitton nos ofrece una colección de guías de viaje  de ciudades del mundo, otra de ciudades de Europa, y unos travel books cuidadisimos, con lo que pasaremos de ser un turista mas a ser un turista de especial.

Some fashion company are inclede in his goods travel guides to drive us up  into a world a little more elitist in new cities on our travels.

For example Louis Vuitton offers us a collection of world cities travel guides, other cities in Europe, and a few travel books with a dapper finished, which will move from being a normal tourist to being a special tourist.

Loewe también nos muestra ver Barcelona y Madrid desde otra perspectiva.

Ines de la Fraessange, la que fuese musa de Chanel y posteriormente diseñadora de moda nos muestra un París muy especial.

another brick in the wall

Antes de nada me gustaría pedir perdón por no haber actualizado el blog con regularidad, he tenido algún problema técnico con el ordenador, estoy en camino de solucionarlo.

Haciendo alusión a una canción de Pink Floyd, este post aunque este relacionado con algo muy masculino como la construcción  es un post dedicado a la mujeres, gracias a Chanel y al uno de sus bolsos de esta temporada primavera-verano, seguramente lo habréis visto a mas de una celebrity.

First of all I would like to apologize for not updating the blog regularly, I had a technical problem with the computer, I'm on my way to fix it.


Alluding to a Pink Floyd song, this post but this related to something very masculine like building is a post dedicated to women, thanks to Chanel and one of his spring-summer bag, surely you have seen it to more than one celebrity.

Chanel hace un guiño a el juego de construcción lego y su clutch de silicona, se ha convertido en uno de los fetiches este verano, aunque la atracción que tiene Lego sobre la moda no es un caso aislado quien se deja seducir por las formas de este juego de construcción.


En cuanto a moda para ellas la firma agabag se inspira en Gucci y Hermes para crear esta piezas realmente llamativas.

carrocerías de pasarela....catwalk cars

Hoy es me gustaría mostraros otras de las colaboraciones por parte de grandes diseñadores de moda y otros ámbito completamente distinto a los modelos que nos muestran desde una pasarela.

Gucci a sacado al mercado un vehículo recientemente junto a la casa italiana Fiat, el modelo en cuestión es el Fiat 500, hay varias versiones con techo rígido o descapotable, los interiores cuidados al máximo, incluyen la enseña tribanda de la casa en cinturones de seguridad y tapicería  No si lo habréis visto ya en la calle coche  tiene su gracia.

Today is I would like to show other of collaborations by famous fashion designers and other completely different field  from the models show us  from a catwalk.

Gucci recently  released a vehicle from Fiat, the model in question is the Fiat 500, there are several versions hardtop or convertible, the interior maximum care to include the famous  house triband seatbelts and upholstery, I don't know you  have seen in the street the car has  charms.

La otra colaboración de la casa es con motivo del décimo aniversario del Smart Fortwo mucho mas mas asequible que el anterior.

Siguiendo la misma estética característica de sus diseños Ed Hardy ha incluido se estilo propio en este Smart Tattoo.

Uno de los coches que mas juego dan a los diseñadores de moda a la hora de expresar su creatividad en el mundo del motor ha sido mini, entre ellos se encuentran Paul Smith que ha hecho de su imagen su enseña, los hermanos Dean y Dan Caten de Dsquared también se suman a la pasión de diseñar un coche, Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Kenneth Cole y en el terreno patrio Victorio y Lucchino se atrevieron sin no mucho éxito para mi, ya que el diseño mas bien se asemeja a un mantel  de picnic.
